Step-by-Step EZYHEX Installation Guide

1. PREPARE YOUR SURFACE

Begin by clearing and levelling the area where you'll be installing the Ezyhex grids. Ensure the surface is free from debris, and remove any uneven spots. Not recommended for slops greater than 15%.

2. LAY DOWN ROAD BASES

Spread a layer of road base or fine gravel over the area, ensuring a depth of 50-100mm depending on the type of traffic the surface will handle. Compact this layer to create a smooth and stable base.

3. LAY THE GEOTEXTILE MAT IF REQUIRED

Place the geotextile mat on the prepared surface. Smooth it out to eliminate any wrinkles or folds, ensuring it lays flat.

4. MEASURE AND CUT THE EZYHEX GRIDS

Use basic tools like a handsaw or grinder to cut the Ezyhex grids to the appropriate size for your project. Measure the area carefully and
cut as needed to fit the space perfectly.

5. CLICK THE GRIDS INTO PLACE

Ezyhex grids feature an interlocking design that makes assembly a breeze. Simply click the grids together, ensuring they are tightly connected to form a solid surface.

6. SECURE THE GRIDS (IF NECESSARY)

In high-impact areas like driveways—we recommend securing the outer edges of the EzyHex grids with metal pins. This helps anchor the system in place and prevents movement under pressure from vehicles or water flow.

If you’re not installing curbs or edge restraints to lock the grids in, metal pins are especially important to keep the structure tight and stable. You only need to pin the outer perimeter, not every grid.

7. FILL THE GRIDS with Your Chosen Material (10mm - 15mm)

Once the grids are in place, fill them with your chosen material—gravel, decorative rock, soil, or turf—making sure the fill is 10mm or smaller for best results. For driveways or high-traffic areas, gravel or crushed rock offers the best strength and stability, while soil and grass are ideal for landscaped zones, allowing proper drainage and protecting turf roots. After compacting the fill, the grids should not be visible, so it’s best to overfill by around 15mm. The interlocking cells hold the material firmly in place to prevent sinking or shifting over time.

8. COMPACT AND FINISH

Ensure the grids are completely covered with rock, decorative gravel, or grass, making sure no sections are visible. Rake the surface to create an even look, checking for any gaps and adding more material if needed. Finally, clean up any excess around the edges for a neat finish.
